We exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ
The resurrected Jesus gave this charge to his followers:
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19-20
Note the means by which we are to “make disciples”:
As we are going (i.e. living our lives)
Baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you
The Rock Bible Church is to be, first and foremost, a gathering of God’s people where they will be given opportunities to grow in their knowledge of God through the study of His Word and to be equipped to do the work of the ministry He has prepared in advance for us to do, both individually and collectively.
As a church family we are committed to “making disciples” who are building one another up through the celebration, demonstration, and proclamation of the gospel:
Celebrating God’s person, His plans and His purposes as revealed in what He has done, is doing, and will do (Acts 2:46-47)
Demonstrating our unique relationship with God as we become more and more like Jesus (Philippians 2:12-13) and promote and preserve our unity in Christ (Ephesians 4:1-3)
Proclaiming the gospel (2 Corinthians 5:18-21) and teaching the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
