Global Missions

Missions, at The Rock Bible Church (TRBC), is our response, as a local body of believers, to the biblical mandate referred to as the Great Commission.

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

The vision of TRBC is that our annual missions giving would eventually be 20% of our annual budget in support of approved and qualified missionaries.

Definition of Terms

TRBC uses the following definitions as related to mission and missionary activity:

  • Mission of the Church:  The Mission of the Church (the capital ‘C’ church) is to glorify God and to make disciples of all nations as seen in the NT in Matthew 28:18-20, related to ethnic rather than political nations. It is the continuation of the OT command where Israel, as God’s covenant people, were sent to the nations to share the glory of Yahweh and the future promise of salvation to all people through a Savior (Gen. 3:15, Isa. 49:6, Ps. 96:1-3, 10).

  • Missions  The activity of taking the good news of the Gospel to those who have not yet responded, and are outside of our cultural, ethnic or linguistic makeup.

  • Missionary:  One called of God, whose call and gifting are recognized and affirmed by the Elders and the body of TRBC, and specifically commissioned to take the good news of the Gospel to a specific people group or ministry in order to proclaim the good news of the Gospel.

  • Mission Field:  Any location within or beyond our immediate cultural surroundings where specifically sent missionaries engage those that have not responded with the good news of the Gospel.
