Prayer

The Rock Bible Church understands prayer to be a vital and indispensable exercise of our faith, both corporately and individually. The Scriptures command God’s people to pray. We understand that in prayer we are acknowledging our dependence on God and inviting His involvement in the details of our lives.

Jesus not only modeled prayer but He provided His disciples with a ‘model’ prayer: “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name…’” (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:2-4).

At the birth of the New Testament Church, we are told the believers “…were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42).

The apostle Paul also, in his letter to the Philippians, wrote: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

The Rock Bible Church encourages all participants who are in Christ to take full advantage of God’s gracious invitation to approach Him with the confidence and assurance that He hears our prayers and promises to answer them in His timing, in accordance with His plans and purposes, and for our good.
